For a long time, I've been fascinated by U Boats.  Not quite sure why since
they were the bad guys.  I read a number of books about them and found that
their loyalties were to Germany and not necessarily the Nazi Party.  Being
at sea gave them that luxury.  There were many brave men that served on
U-boats and of the 40,000 that went out to sea, 30,000 of them never returned.

I had the U-boat Commander figure floating around for a while but I never really
had anything to display him with.  After doing the Escort Carrier Bridge,
I decided to do the same thing with a U-boat conning tower.

This is sort of a depiction of the Type VII U-boat which was the most common
during the war.  It was definately the work horse of the Ubootwaffe.  I was
orginally going to do the Laughing Sawfish insigna from "Das Boot" and as
I was doing a search, I stumbled across an image similar to the one I have
on this.

The image is supposed to be a spoof on Chamberlain.  Anyways....
