The USS Barb was a Gato class fleet submarine from World War II.  Her
Captain was named Eugene Fluckey.  He won the Congressional Medal of
Honor for attacking a Japanese harbor.  He also attacked a number
of Japanese warships including an aircraft carrier that was out on
shakedown trials.  He rescued a number of downed airmen and was the
first submariner to use rockets.  He also had a shore party land
on Hokkaido to blow up a train, I believe this was the only
US military unit to land on Japan proper during the war.

But of all his accomplishments, he is most proud that none of his men
won a Purple Heart for being injured in combat.

This is a figure depicting a member of that shore party.

Anyways here goes:



The figure is wearing a sweater that would be typically found on a 
submarine.  His face is painted black.  I think the real guys used
grease from the engines.  He is carrying a Thompson submachine gun
as the weapon lockers had those and some other weapons.  He is also
carrying something to represent a satchel charge made from the
scuttling charges on the boat.
