I've lived in this area for over 20 years now. Most of the time when I go to
Detroit, it's either to go to a sporting event or the Detroit Institute of
Arts. As I've wandered around those areas, I noticed the buildings but I never
really noticed just how unique the architecture of Detroit is. Granted, there
are alot of run down buildings in Detroit, but even those have hints of their
grandness from the past.

Anyways, I figured I would start with some of the nice areas of Detroit.

This is the side of a building near Comerica Park.

Probably one of the most depressing views for me. The remains of Tigers'
Stadium. When they moved into Comerica Park, they didn't know what to do
with Tigers' Stadium, so they bascially let it fall to the wayside.

They tore down the outfield seats and left it from dugout to dugout.
Supposedly there is a group of people that may buy it, but given the state
of so many other buildings in Detroit, I doubt it.

One of the light towers.

Another depressing building in Detroit. This used to be the Michigan Central
Train Station. Now it is home to bums and other things.

A detail view of some of the friezes. I would imagine back in the day, this
looked really nice. Now it acts as yet another symbol.

Some more intricacies on the building. I can imagine putting this much money
and effort into a building, only to have it end up looking like this.

The front view of the building, the snow only helps in making it look sadder.

One of the train approaches, I think.
