When I bought these tickets, I thought the Tigers would still have a chance to catch the Indians. Things were looking up and they were doing well against Minnesota and they were gaining some ground on Cleveland. Then the wheels fell off the wagon. The Indians came back from a 5-1 deficit in game 1 to win it in the 11th inning. Then they came back from a 4-1 deficit to win game 2. That put the Tigers in a tough spot and I was hoping they would pull out to at least win this game. Anyways...pictures...Feet Dry...Entering enemy territory. I had to be cautious...

One thing I do have to say about Cleveland, it is a pretty nice city. I was amazed at the hustle and bustle around the ballpark. This is a pretty stark contrast to Detroit where there isn't quite as much hustle and bustle. Cleveland does have some pretty nice buildings.
One of the Indians, Casey Blake as he is hitting a Solo Shot to cut the Tigers lead to 2-1.
Another shot of Blake.
Everytime the Indians would get a rally I would hear this damned drumming. So I looked around the stadium and found the source of it.

Carlos Guillen was one of the bright spots of the game. He got a double with one out and then managed to steal third base. Unfortunately for the Tigers, this was as far as he got.
One of the Indian hitters
Another one of the Indian hitters - Travis Hafner
One of the neat things about the game - the Hot Dog races
A Random Indian
Leyland arguing a call. The Indian hit it to the outfield, but from our vantage point, we could clearly see that the ball hit the ground. The umpire missed that and called the guy out. The Umpires confabbed and awarded the guy first base. Leyland tried to get it back to an out. As it was, the Indians had a guy on second that probably would have scored.

Magglio Ordonez. He's one of my favorite players, but today wasn't his day. He ended up going 0 for 4. He even had a chance where he could have tied up the game, but he struck out. This is very rare for him. He still has a shot at the batting title though.

Nate Robinson had an okay game. He ended up giving up 4 runs but he was solid through most of the innings. He ended up with 5 strikeouts.

On the flip side, we had C.C. Sabathia. He only gave up 2 runs and had 7 strikeouts. His name is getting mentioned for the Cy Young Award.

Another normally solid player, Placido Polanco. He was only 1 for 4 today.

Gary Sheffield.
Grady Sizemore - one of the bad guys.

Marcus Thames. He was injured for a good part of the year. I think he is still shaking some of the cobwebs.

Some random Tigers.
You're Welcome
Granderson ended up pinching hitting. Given that he is normally pretty solid, I was hoping he'd deliver......

He ended up getting a walk but then got stranded at third.
Rafael Betancourt. He wasn't solid as he did load the bases. But he was solid enough as the Tigers didn't score.

Joe Borowski. He is the Indians' closer and caused the bottom of the Tigers lineup to go 1-2-3.
Timo Perez. Normally another solid player, but he ended up being part of the 1-2-3 Ninth. I was hoping to see the third game of the sweep. But I didn't want it to be the third game of an Indians sweep. Oh well, most of the Indian fans were pretty decent and didn't do too much ribbing. To the guy taunting Magglio in right field....He doesn't suck. His batting average is still higher than every player on the Cleveland lineup. To the same guy..The Tigers don't really suck either, the breaks haven't been going their way this year. There is still a chance the Tigers can make the playoffs but with the way the Yankees are playing...not likely. Back to my baseball page
